| The Göcek is located in Fethiye Gulf has numerous beautiful coves and islands and
is extremely popular among the yachts and boats on the Blue Cruise tour. The Göcek coves and islands
are the meeting place of Turkey’s and world’s "high society". Boats that compete in luxury sail
throughout the region.
In Göcek, which was a calm and quite village until almost yesterday, is now the scene of rapid
construction work. Although permission to build tall buildings has not been granted, there are many
high rise concrete building appearing through the green pines.
The tourism activity of Göcek can be said to be almost fully focused around the marina, with all
the restaurants and shops being around the quay. The walking trail on the waterside that existed
until recently has been removed after becoming shabby. By setting up new paths with a design in
harmony with the environment, both locals and foreigners can be at peace with the sea.
There are several yacht marinas situated within the Gocek bay which makes this small and
picturesque bay a very busy yachting paradise, particularly during the yachting season which
starts in general in April and goes through November every year. Due to its popularity amongst
yachtsman, all the marinas are fully booked during the yachting season. Many yachts that can not
find space in any of the marinas during busy yachting season chose to anchor in the Gocek bay which
is a very well protected natural harbor for yachtsman for all seasons. |
